Latest Nepal Bible Society News

Thousands of people across Nepal have had their eyes opened to God's written word with the distribution of free Scriptures by the Nepal Bible Society. Nearly two million copies of Scriptures were handed out to people last year, of which nearly 47,000 were Bibles and more than 460,000 were New Testaments. Bible Society also donated about 32,000 free Scriptures to church groups in different regions of Nepal.

Two further events were cause for celebration by Nepal Bible Society:

In May the Bible Society moved into its own property in the Lalitpur District of the Kathmandu Valley. This permanent base will give Bible Society the security it needs to focus on expanding its work among the people of Nepal.

A new evangelistic programme was also launched in partnership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The programme, Hope for Peace, aims to bring many people back to God. This is an exciting partnership for Bible Society and we are praying that many people will become Christians as a result.

Please Pray

  • For the thousands of people who are benefiting from the Bible's life-changing message with the distribution of Scriptures - For the unity of the Nepalese political party leaders and supporters to come to an agreement for lasting peace and a new constitution
  • For the safety of Nepal Bible Society staff as they carry out their responsibilities despite all of the challenges of the country
  • That more people can benefit from the work of Bible Society with the move to the new property
  • That our monthly gift is wisely spent

Ask God whom you might invite.

Harvest Festival

This co-incides with Back To Church Sunday

Donated proceeds from the Harvest Celebration entertainment are for the charity Water-Aid, under which we hope to renovate a water-pump for a village in Uganda. Our churches at present have contact with the Revd Jeremiah Acelun of Uganda, whose wife Joyce has to walk 5 miles each day there and back with a water jar on her head -as do all the women of their village. He has identified a suitable well that can be brought back into safe use.

Notes from PCC Extraordinary Meeting 11th August

The PCC met with David Scott, Chartered Surveyor, to discuss the progress of the St. Keverne Church Development project. The Plans have been agreed in principle by the diocese and detailed specifications submitted. It is expected that Faculty Notices can soon be published in both churches for 28 days for public consultation, following which a Faculty can be granted.

It is hoped that tenders will go out in the second week of September for the whole project which will cost in the region of £180,000 to £200,000.

The PCC Sub-Committee looking at the finance for the project will be presenting a plan to the next PCC for approval , which will help us to identify an official launch Gift Day.

Please Pray For

Our building plans, that in all we seek to do through the development work on St. Peter`s Church Hall and St. Keverne Church, we are led by God and anointed by his Spirit.

We give thanks for the County Planning approval for St. Peter`s, and that we have all the necessary finance, and can tender for the main contractor soon. We give thanks that after seven challenging years, we are close to having a faculty for the work at St. Keverne Church, and a clear picture of the proposed work.
