Two further events were cause for celebration by Nepal Bible Society:
In May the Bible Society moved into its own property in the Lalitpur District of the Kathmandu Valley. This permanent base will give Bible Society the security it needs to focus on expanding its work among the people of Nepal.
A new evangelistic programme was also launched in partnership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The programme, Hope for Peace, aims to bring many people back to God. This is an exciting partnership for Bible Society and we are praying that many people will become Christians as a result.
Donated proceeds from the Harvest Celebration entertainment are for the charity Water-Aid, under which we hope to renovate a water-pump for a village in Uganda. Our churches at present have contact with the Revd Jeremiah Acelun of Uganda, whose wife Joyce has to walk 5 miles each day there and back with a water jar on her head -as do all the women of their village. He has identified a suitable well that can be brought back into safe use.
It is hoped that tenders will go out in the second week of September for the whole project which will cost in the region of £180,000 to £200,000.
The PCC Sub-Committee looking at the finance for the project will be presenting a plan to the next PCC for approval , which will help us to identify an official launch Gift Day.
We give thanks for the County Planning approval for St. Peter`s, and that we have all the necessary finance, and can tender for the main contractor soon. We give thanks that after seven challenging years, we are close to having a faculty for the work at St. Keverne Church, and a clear picture of the proposed work.
