I
am a retired software engineer, who used to work at a government research establishment, my main activity was in computer aided design in a number of different fields. I still do some ad hock software engineering, for which I now use Microsoft Visual C++6.

I live in the pretty village of St. Keverne on the Lizard Peninsular of Cornwall. The village lies about a mile from the sea, overlooking Falmouth Bay it is quite a popular place for visitors in the summer despite being a bit out on a limb. Our nearest main town is Helston about twelve miles away. There are many places to walk in the area, see my Walks Page for a few examples. As an interest I do some web site production, viz. this site and the St. Keverne Church web pages.

R
ecently I have taken an allotment a little way up the road from where I live. So far I am 'Very Novice' and am probably doing a lot wrong. It is already, July 2011, providing me with runner beans, put in too early, peas, potatoes, perpetual spinach and some little beetroot from the thinings. I have also made myself an Eve's pudding using my own rhubarb. In a mini green house there are tomatoes, but they are packed too close, next year I will modify the green house and put in fewer plants. The old windows left from window replacement of my bungalow have come in useful for the green house and cold frame. I also hope to have parsnip and carrot soon. My main 'bane' is 'ranunculus, ranunculus, ranunculus' - but what do you expect from a virgin field used for hay and pasture? Concerted application of the hoe is required. There are about twenty six allotments on the plot in all, everyone doing things in a different way. The field is owned by a local charity the Sandys and Hoskens Educational Trust, which can trace its origins back to 1698. The button on the right will take you to the allotment web site where you can read about its activities and also more about the Trust.

I also do some water colour painting, though I am not very good at it. However it is a relaxing hobby and one which enables me to express my appreciation of God's wonderful creation, and hopefully show other people how I see it.

U
ntil 2001 I lived in a beautiful place in Worcestershire called Malvern, renowned for its hills, and the water cure. Some of the photos on this site are of Malvern scenes. My flat was perched up on the east facing hills overlooking the Severn Valley, with wonderful views towards the Cotswolds. Though I no longer have the glorious views from my windows I do not have to go far to get breathtaking scenes of land and sea, or find quiet country footpaths and lanes in which to walk.

In Malvern I used to attend Gt. Malvern Priory. but now I attend the local St. Keverne parish church, which like Malvern Priory has a long history associated with a monastic order. Since coming here I have taken up Bell Ringing which is challenging as well as being interesting.

My beliefs stem from a simple premise, that we are all sinners and need the saving power of the Lord Jesus in our lives. That simple bald statement needs expanding if it is not to be trite, so follow the links to what I mean by Sin and Saving Power, and the person of Jesus, and indeed what I understand is the nature of God.
